Welcome to Victor Elementary School District’s website which
provides a glimpse of an outstanding district. This is evident in VESD
having a district Academic Performance Index (API) score of 813 in
2011. Five of our eighteen schools have API scores over 800 and two of
our eighteen schools are over 900. VESD is ranked 7th out of 33
districts in San Bernardino County based on API. VESD accomplishes this
by giving defined autonomy to each school which means there is site by
site decision making to meet the needs of students. Coupled with
defined autonomy is our commitment to our vision and mission.
Vision: “To prepare students to be able to select from a
variety of career opportunities and to be successful in the world of
work.”
During the 2012/2013 school year VESD is immersing itself in Common
Core State Standards (CCSS). The standards have been adopted by 48
states which is an outstanding advantage for the United States. For the
first time in recent history teachers can collaborate with other
teachers within their school district, in California, and across the
nation. With CCSS also comes the 21st Century Skills. 21st Century
Skills include three skills: life and career skills, learning and
innovation skills, and information media/technology skills. These
skills are woven into the core subject areas represented in CCSS. The
combination of CCSS and 21st Century Skills will give our students the
ability to know how to learn.
Mission: “All students will be at or above grade level in
reading, writing, mathematics, and science.”
VESD’s mission is a staircase to the vision and currently
there is a tremendous amount of work being done on this staircase.
